A dedicated specialist research facility with seven levels of cutting-edge labs and facilities has been built in the heart of the UTS campus. The specialist facilities are now being equipped for use.

The striking new building responds to growing demand for purpose-built research space for the Faculty of Science and will create further opportunities for UTS to generate industry engagement and undertake high-impact research.

Building 4 science research facility

The vision for a new research facility constructed on the site of the former University Hall was revealed in 2017. It has been built as an addition to Building 4 (the Science building), with seamless connections with that building.

Features

The work of renowned H2o Architects, the design for the Science Research Building responds to our existing campus while making a bold statement about UTS’s future.

Facade of Science research facility

Exterior

The façade, which is visible from Turner Lane and the Harris St footbridge, features metallic, shingle-style cladding with colourful window reveals. A lightning strike design is inspired by UTS’s youthful energy and innovative spirit. Extensive glazing allows for strong visual connections from the street to within the building while flooding the interiors with light.
