The Biologics Innovation Facility (BIF) offers Facility Hire Agreements to provide access to various graded clean rooms, within a GMP-simulated environment. Regarded as a sandbox environment, clients can recreate and develop their process in 3 x Grade D rooms, a Grade C or a Grade B room. Further, clients can utilise the range of equipment housed within the BIF or bring in their own equipment to establish their process.

The BIF offers a number of supporting services for large-scale projects, particularly with genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

  • Large scale PC2 certified – can produce GMO cultures up to 200L, with infrastructure in place to accommodate a 1000L bioreactor
  • Dedicated waste and decontamination plant – all liquid waste in the facility is treated on site, using dedicated decontamination tanks
  • Purified water system – three-steps of purification, reverse osmosis, ozone treatment and UV sterilisation. A 4000L tank is accessed through 8 outlets in the facility.
  • Temperature controlled units – four fixed and two standing units, connect to the facility mixing units and bioreactor, to provide a controlled temperature. Units are qualified from 4-60°C.
  • Air handling units – four separate units drive the facility clean rooms, and adjacent PC2 rooms. Each room has adjustable pressure differentials, including all airlocks between the corridor
