Precinct partnerships

The Human Performance Research Centre is strategically located in the Rugby Australia Building at the Moore Park precinct — Sydney's sporting heartland. Our researchers have the unique opportunity to collaborate and produce impactful research in real time, working alongside a variety of sporting codes located within the precinct. These include Rugby Australia, Sydney Swans, Sydney Roosters and Cricket NSW where we have access to valuable performance, injury-management and rehabilitation data.

Rugby Australia

We collaborate with Rugby Australia and their flagship teams to achieve innovative and evidence-based solutions and strategies to improve performance and training processes in rugby union.

Located inside the Australian Rugby Development Centre, our research centre embeds emerging and established researchers within teams to implement evidence-based frameworks and systems, directly impacting the performance of athletes and coaches.

Dr Andrew Novak is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Human Performance Research Centre and Sports Performance Scientist at Rugby Australia.

Mitch Henderson is a PhD student, completing his research on "Maximising Team Sport Performance in the Heat" in collaboration with Rugby Australia's Sevens teams.

Sydney Swans

In partnership with the Sydney Swans Football Club, we conduct high quality, evidence-based research focused on analysing match performance, injury risk and junior athlete development in the Australian Football League.

Our researchers investigate a variety of issues at all levels of performance: training and recovery strategies; physical testing and screening procedures; athlete development; performance output and outcomes; as well as skill development.

Rhys Tribolet and Will Sheehan are PhD students, completing their research in collaboration with the Sydney Swans.

Industry partners

Our researchers collaborate and consult with a range of sporting codes, and sports teams around the world. We are at the forefront of global sporting trends and research gaps, improving the relevance, translation and impact of our research.

We collaborate with the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS), conducting high quality, evidence-based research to solve real world industry problems and improve athlete performance.

Dr Katie Slattery is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Human Performance Research Centre and Track Endurance Coach at NSW Institute of Sport.

Antony Stadnyk is a PhD student, completing his research on "Determinants of Track Cycling Performance" under the supervision of Dr Katie Slattery and in collaboration with the NSW Institute of Sport.
