Below is a step-by-step guide of how to apply for a Humanitarian Scholarship.

Ensure you are eligible for the course and the scholarship before starting this process.

Eligibility for the Humanitarian Scholarship

Students can apply for a scholarship if:

  • they have received an offer for a UTS course – course conditions apply
  • hold a Bridging Visa E or A, or Temporary Protection Visa – subclass 785, or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa – subclass 790 or Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa – Subclass 786. IMPORTANT: Students who have Permanent Humanitarian Visa (subclass 866, 200 – 204) are not eligible for the UTS Humanitarian Scholarship Program*.
  • have not commenced or completed any other undergraduate degree in Australia
  • will be commencing full-time study at UTS in the next available intake for the course
  • can demonstrate that they do not have the financial means to support payment of their tuition fees without receiving the scholarship.

If students fit this criteria, they can apply for the scholarship.

*If students hold a Permanent Humanitarian Visa (subclass 866, 200 – 204), they are considered a domestic student and can access HECS. Therefore they are not eligible for a Humanitarian Scholarship. However, there are lots of other scholarships they can apply for.

IMPORTANT: The application process is different for recent school leavers (Year 12 students) and non-recent school leavers (non-Year 12 students) – if you need support submitting your application, please feel free to contact the Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion – [email protected].

Select your course

Choose the course you would like to study and session you would like to commence. Ensure that your selected course is eligible for the Humanitarian Scholarship. In 2023 scholarship places will be offered in the following faculties: UTS Business School, Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Science.
